If a person is erally serious about cutting down the dust, this works well, but still not as fast as a dust creating saw. Good product, just didn't get used alot during our siding install.
Be careful with the fingers, I got my index finger caught in the cutter. Great product, very fast at cutting Hardie Plank.
NO DUST, LITTLE MESS, SAFE AND QUICK. A must have tool when cutting Hardi Backer/Cement board products.
Dubious at first, I quickly learned that it does the job, and does it quickly and smoothly. Highly recommended tool.
Well, it'd be nice to have a deflector that would push the cut strips to the side, but then the deflector might block your sight of the line. Could it be improved.
I'm only a homeowner who wanted to put up his own Hardiepanel, read about the dangers of the dust, so found this and bought it. I haven't tried to cut a curve with it, but, within its limitations, I think it would do that perfectly too.
So, maybe not. I can say unreservedly, this is the best tool for the job.
At first, I used a straight-edge to ensure straight cuts, but it didn't take long for me to do them "free hand", and got cuts just as sharp.
I.m not in the siding business so I can't speak for them. We have 66 more showers to do. I am very impresed with the initial use of this tool.
The picture they give you with a cordless drill is cheesy. I plan to burn out this thing out before the job is done. I would use a good 1/2 inch plug in drill or an 18 volt DeWalt (my cordless of choice) for best results.
Being a commercial contractor I put most of the tools I use to a seroius test. I especialy like that you can shave a close 1/8 inch at the work area without any dust if you need to. If it makes 1500 linear feet of 1/2 inch hardibacker I'll update with the results.
Granted, any tool tells its tale over time but my crew and I cut over 300 linear feet of 1/2 inch hardibacker today without a single problem. However, If you're a tile setter and hate using saws, grinders, or whatever to cut material I would recommend this.
